From this poster we can see that it has low key lighting because most of her face is hidden from the shadow. The smoke has connotations of film noir. From her facial expressions we can see that perhaps she is not happy with her life  looks as if she has experienced something which in reinforced in the smoke coming from the cigar implying the character being rebellious and seductive.

In this poster the women is in complete darkness suggesting low key lighting. From the way the majority of her face is covered by shadows giving us the impression of horror and possibly a darker side of a person. From this we can also assume links to film noir

Mise-en-scene: "Drive"

Image result for drive (2011 film)
From the film poster of "Drive", the subject is wearing a jacket with an orange-golden scorpion on the back. The scorpion is the main thing that sticks out on the jacket giving the audience the idea that this character may be dangerous as a scorpion is an insect wrapped around the idea of power, it has implications of defence and the ability to harm others with its poison only used when necessary. From the lack of colour on his jacket, we can make the assumption of how it has been worn many times before, giving us the impression that this is his daily wear. This jacket could also reflect the man's character and his personality. The majority of the man is covered by his upturned collar highlighting the fact that he is keeping a low profile suggesting something about his life. Also the shadows signify mystery, darkness and uncertainty. The lighting mainly focused on the man's jacket and the back of him rather than his face and the scenery around him. The film poster is dark with little light only coming from the neon lights in background which could signify dreams and ambition around all the darkness . The protagonist is facing away from the audiences view. This setting creates tension and also a sense of secrecy at the fact that the audience can not see the his facial expression, showing no emotion therefore, it makes it more difficult to connect with the character and make assumptions on the film other than its potential genre.

Clip Analysis

This clip is from the film "Unbroken" that is a drama/sports filmFrom the way the          characters are presented, we can see that  they are unhealthy and have    been tortured in some way. Also from their facial expressions, you can see that they are  in pain. Most are covered in dirt which links  back to their living conditions as  prisoners. The final push which is the bit  when Louis Zamperini (the main character)  is physically losing but mentally conquered  "the bird". As clip continues, the light gets  brighter and brighter up until the point he is  having flashbacks to when he was physically fit and running. It ends on a close shot of Louise gasping for air.

This clip from the film "Drive" which is a crime/drama film, is the elevator scene. From the start of the scene, there is tension between the two male characters. The lighting around them is bright almost interrogating. However, when "Driver" pushes "Irene" behind him the lights starts to darken and only focus on the two of them. Despite the scene becoming intimate and passionate, the mood rapidly changes back  when the lights brighten up again (back to violent). Driver murders the man inside the elevator and Irene runs out when the elevator opens.

This clip is from the film "Final Girl" which is a drama and a thriller. This is the scene where the audience meets Danny. It could be argued that it is also film noir because of the shadows in this scene. The fact that he is dancing and holding the axe as if he is comfortable with it signifies how this sinister of a person he is. Perhaps has killed before. The plain white walls as the background could represent his state of mind or "Danny" not really having a significant identity.

Film Poster Analysis

Image result for blade runner

The film"Blade Runner" may be a film about humans having to fight something inhuman suggested through the man holding a gun and on the top right, when it says that 'Man has made his match...Now it's his problem'. From the background of the poster, I can see that the film would be sci-fi and possibly action. The target audience would be for young adults.

The film "Scary Movie 2" looks like a parody of many horror films put together. The title suggests that there are elements of horror but from the facial expressions of the characters we can see that it is mainly a comedy. The poster also has reference to original horror films. For example on the green dress, it says " I love dead people" which is a reference from the film sixth sense. The target audience would be young adults.

From the film poster of  "Uzak", I would think that the film is about a man being isolated and faces something tragic. In the brackets, it says "(distant)" which could also present his life. From the picture, the film looks like a drama because of the fact that he is alone and not showing his face. The target audience may be adults as it looks very serious.

Image result for i'm not scared film

The film poster of "I'm not scared" looks like a story where a young boy has found something unusual that he is afraid so he keeps it a secret. The genre of the film, in my opinion, would be drama and thriller from the background and confused look on the characters face .The target audience would be teenagers.

The film poster of  "Sin City" has very dark colours (black and red) that signify danger so this film may be about crime and committing sins. The genre of the film could be some sort of crime that can be identified by the name "Sin"and possibly thriller as it looks very violent from the characters serious looks and weapons that they are holding. The film would more likely be targeted towards adults.

The film poster of "Pirates and the Caribbean" looks like an adventurous film about pirates and some sort if treasure that is being fought over. I think that the genre of the film would be action, drama and possibly adventure from how the characters are positions, their expressions are the background The target audience could be children and young teenagers.

The film poster of "Bride and Prejudice" looks like it is about a clash of cultures and judging others before getting to know them. The film also makes reference to Pride and Prejudice from the title. "Spectacular, Romantic, funny and so sexy" suggest that the genre of the film is a romantic comedy which can also be seen on all the characters facial expressions. This film may be targeted towards teenagers.

The film poster of "Million Dollar Baby" looks like a film that may be based on the struggle of someone's life. "Beyond their journey, there is love" which could mean that the film is also based on forming some sort of relationship. The genre of the film could be a drama from the expressions of the characters faces and the fact that the main character has not shown her face fully. The target audience could be teenagers to inspire them on turning their lives around.
